There are many health benefits of ginger. Ginger can be effective for easing cold symptoms and is thought to enhance the immune system as well. People with intestinal upsets often feel better after ingesting ginger.
Ginger root tea is not only an effective way to get a good dose of ginger, but it can be a very tasty way as well. Ginger root is readily available in the produce section of most grocery stores.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ginger root
  • Sharp knife
  • 1 Quart saucepan
  • Hot water
  • Metal Strainer
  • Honey (optional)
  • Lemon (optional)
  1. Step 1

    Purchase a small amount of fresh ginger root from the produce section of a grocery store. Only a small amount of ginger root is necessary to make tea. Ginger root will keep for several weeks in a refrigerator.

  2. Step 2

    Cut a one-inch section from the ginger root with a sharp knife. Carefully peel the outer covering off of the ginger root and cut it into thin slices.

  3. Step 3

    Boil four cups of water in the saucepan. Add the sliced ginger and reduce the heat to a simmer. Allow the water and ginger to simmer for approximately 15 minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Strain the tea from the sliced ginger root into a tea cup after 15 minutes of simmering.

  5. Step 5

    Add a small amount of honey and/or freshly squeezed lemon to the ginger root tea if desired.
