How to Make a Free Birthday Card for a 5-Year-Old
Create a colorful birthday card for a five-year-old (themed for a boy or girl) that shows how much you care. Using supplies available around the house, a child going to a birthday party for a youngster can make the card by himself with a little adult help. An adult can also create a special card for a special five-year-old.
Things You'll Need
- Card stock
- Decorative paper
- White glue
- Scissors/paper cutter
- Marker
- Envelope - A7 (5 inches by 7 inches)

Using a paper cutter, cut a sheet of card stock to 10 inches by 7 inches. Fold it in half and make a crease.

Cut a piece of decorative paper on the paper cutter 5 inches by 7 inches. Attach the decorative paper to the front of the card with white glue applied around the edges. Press down with your fingers to secure it. Let it dry.

Cut an image to fit within the 7 inches by 5 inches space of the front of the card. Attach it on top of the decorative paper with white glue. Press down. Let it dry.

With a marker, write a few words on a strip of card stock, such as "Happy Birthday" or "To a Special 5-year-old," and attach it to the front of the card with white glue. You can also use two strips with wording attached above and below the image.

With a marker, write a personal note wishing the youngster a very happy birthday. Sign the card, insert it into the envelope, address and mail it (if not delivering it personally).

Tips & Warnings
You can find images and decorative papers in expired wallpaper sample books, available for free at home decorator stores.
Only an adult should use the paper cutter.
