Instructions

1
Draw a giant strawberry on a piece of paper. Make a smaller strawberry paper shape too. Draw leaves in two sizes for paper patterns.
-
2
Cut out the shapes.

-
3
Trace the strawberry patterns on red craft foam. For a 5-foot window, you'll need six or seven big strawberries and four smaller ones.
-
4
Trace the leaf shapes on green and lighter green craft foam. Make 10 large leaves, and 10 smaller ones.
-
5
Cut all the shapes out of the color foam. Add small black dots randomly on the strawberries, and draw light veins on the leaves.
-
6
Arrange the cut out shapes on the floor or a big surface to design the pattern you want. You can plan for two big strawberries at each corner and others scattered. Place the leaves around and behind the berries.
-
7
Place the valance rod on the kitchen table or across a couple of chairs you've protected with newspaper.
-
8
Hot glue the strawberries and leaves to the valance rod, based on the design you've created.
-
9
Wind a curving length of cord or paper twist around the berries and leaves and hot glue it in places, so it hangs free in most places. Leave some extra cord dangling at the sides, and even add a few more leaves.
-
10
Hang your strawberry vine valance.

Children can help with the strawberries and leaves, but make sure an adult does the hot gluing.
