How to Make a Word Find Puzzle for a Mac
A word find is a useful activity for a handful of reasons. Often teachers will create word finds to give students an activity to do. These puzzles help students become familiar with new terms.
Adults use these word finds just as often. A word find puzzle can be an effective activity to have for a person who has a few minutes or who has a long flight ahead of her.
The good news is that creating a word find on a Mac does not vary from creating a word find on a PC. There are simply a few steps that need to be followed to create an effective word find puzzle.

1
Open your Web browser on your computer (ie. Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari). Type in the Web address for the word search creator (See Resources) and press enter. The word find web page will open.
-
2
After the new page opens, locate the place on the page where you can enter words. You will see that there are about 60 boxes into which you can enter words. This means that there will not be more than 60 words in the finished puzzle. Less than 60 words can be added if you want. Type the words into the boxes and press "Enter."

As the next page opens, notice that there is now a finished word find puzzle that includes all of the terms you included on the previous page. These words are spread throughout the puzzle and can be found backward, forward, diagonal, up, down and across.

You may want to have an answer key (especially if you are giving the puzzle to children), click on the "Answer Key PDF" button just below the puzzle. This will open a new page that allows you to see the words that are hidden in red.
-
5
Print the page or copy the URL at the top of the page. This Web page will be active for two months after the date you created the puzzle.

Tips & Warnings
After entering the words into their boxes, you can scroll down the page and adjust colors and font sizes for the puzzle.
Using a large amount of words with only a few letters can make for a less-than-impressive word find when the puzzle is created.
