Using a computer with high-speed Internet access, go to the EFTPS website. Before you begin, you will need to have several pieces of information handy, such as your Social Security number and bank account information, including your routing and account numbers. You must also specify whether your account is checking or savings.

Enter all of the above data into the system online. The site will then provide you with a confirmation page that contains an Enrollment Trace Number. Print off a copy of this page and store it in your tax file.

Wait to get your notice of confirmation in the mail. This may take a few weeks. The IRS will also mail you a PIN number along with directions on how to get your EFTPS website password.

Add or change your bank account information after enrolling, by simply clicking on the additional enrollment tab. Other tabs will allow you to change personal information, such as your mailing address, as well.

In order to make a payment, simply log in to your account and choose the payment option. Specify the amount of the payment and hit the "Send" button.
