Stuffing envelope scams have been around for years and they have conned thousands out of money. The way that the scam works is that the companies request payment in order to give you either the materials to start stuffing envelopes and books or to provide you with a list of businesses that pay people to stuff envelopes. However, you can find legitimate ways to make money stuffing envelopes and books and not have to deal with any scams.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start or work for a direct mailing company. These companies work for businesses that want someone else to handle all of their mailing. You would be required to stuff envelopes and books and mail them on their behalf.

  2. Step 2

Get the materials needed to make money stuffing envelopes and books. You can either require clients to provide the materials or charge them a fee in order to supply your own envelopes and mailers.

  3. Step 3

Build up your network in order to gather new clients. If you want to bring in new clients for your mailing company, you will need to approach different companies about your services. Explain how it works and tell them about the benefits. You might want to offer a trial period in order to prove the convenience of hiring you to stuff envelopes and books.

  4. Step 4

Also check with marketing companies to make money stuffing envelopes and books instead of starting a mailing service company. Marketing companies will often hire people to stuff envelopes with their direct mailers. Direct mailers advertise their products or services.

  5. Step 5

Apply for a job with a printing company. A print shop will often hire people to stuff envelopes and books created by the printer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid any companies that ask for money before they start paying you. If you are providing a service and paying them, this should raise a red flag that this is a scam. Don't expect to make thousands per week stuffing envelopes and books. If a company promises an outlandish salary, then it's not likely a legitimate job.
