It is impossibly slow at times---you could end up waiting upwards of an hour for a simple download, and if the connection breaks you have to start all over again. The only surefire way to speed up your Internet connection is to move over to DSL or cable Internet service, but there are a few things you could try to make your current dial up connection faster.

Clear your cache and saved Internet files before dialing up to your Internet service. Do this by clicking on "Tools> Clear Private Data" in Mozilla, and in Internet Explorer click "Internet Options" on the toolbar, then "General> Temporary Internet Files> Delete Files."

Only download one item or web page at a time. When you simultaneously download information from more than one website, the connection will slow down significantly.
