    Things You'll Need

    • Three ring binder
    • Squeeze-bottle craft paint
    • Scrapbooking embellishments
    • Flat trim, sequins and cut-outs
    • Clear-drying craft glue

Get a clean, dust-free three-ring binder in any color or size. The binder can be vinyl or fabric for this decoration craft. Take a moment to plan what kind of design or pattern you want on your folder or notebook. Lay it in front of you so the cover faces you.

Use fabric or craft paint in plastic squeeze bottles to write words or draw designs on the three-ring binder. A good idea might be the title of the class you use the binder for, or whatever category of papers you hold inside. Squiggly or straight lines, dots and spirals are easy to draw, but you can create whole pictures on the three-ring binder if you like. Allow the paint to dry before moving on.

Use clear-drying craft glue or a hot glue gun and glue stick to make lines on the borders of the three-ring binder. Cut a length of ribbon, rickrack or trim and press it securely onto the glue line. Make sure the edges are glued down sufficiently so the ribbon cannot be torn off.

Make dots of glue on the three-ring binder and attach acrylic gemstones, sequins or small paper or card stock embellishments in your choice of colors and designs. These can be found in scrapbooking departments of any craft store. Try to make a unified theme that matches what the three-ring binder is for.

Wait for all the glue and paint on the front cover of the three-ring binder to dry completely before moving on to the back and spine. Repeat a similar pattern for the back or create a new one. Matching the trim or ribbon at the edges will help give your binder a cohesive and attractive look. Avoid gluing anything to the joints that bend whenever you open or close the three-ring binder.
