How to Plow Snow

Some states such as New York and Illinois get so much snow that it could top over a house if not plowed. There are trucks with plows that run through the streets in states that get snow every winter, but what do people do about the snow in their driveway and walkway? They have to remove the snow to be able to easily get in and out of their home. States that have a limited amount of snow will not have to worry about it as much, however, they will have to figure out a way to handle plowing the snow when they do get it. There are different methods to use, which will depend on how much snow falls and how often. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Determine how much snow you get compared to ice. For example, in some states such as Texas and Oklahoma, there is more ice than snow. In this case it is best to either use a shovel or a four-wheel-drive truck that has a plow attached.

    • 2

Use a snow blower. This is good for areas that tend to get more snow than ice and no more than a foot of snow. It is best for paved sidewalks and driveways.

    • 3

Plow snow with an ATV plow. If you have an ATV, then you can attach a plow, which will be less expensive than attaching a plow to a truck. It will take longer than a truck to plow all of the snow, but it will be more accurate since it will be able to cut corners easier and maneuver more quickly.

    • 4

Hire a contractor. If you live in areas that have a lot of snow and you don't have a four-wheel-drive truck or an ATV, then you may want to hire a company to plow the snow each winter, which will be more feasible.

Tips & Warnings

  • When shoveling snow, be sure that you drink plenty of water before starting and always bend your knees when shoveling and lifting.
