Instructions

  1. Blending Smoothies

    • 1

Combine ice, fruit, yogurt and sugar in a blender. Use fresh or frozen fruit, keeping in mind that frozen fruit will make a thicker smoothie. For a healthier drink, use low-fat or nonfat yogurt. Experiment with different fruits and yogurt flavors to create original recipes. Sugar or artificial sweeteners are optional.

    • 2

Blend ingredients until smooth. Add more ice if you want a thicker smoothie. Pulse the blender if you have that option to ensure that all chunks are blended. If you don't have that option on your blender, turn the blender off periodically and use a spoon to push any chunks to the bottom to be blended. Resume blending until all chunks are gone and the drink has a smooth consistency.

    • 3

Pour your fruit smoothie into glasses. Garnish the side of each glass with a slice of fruit, if desired, and serve immediately.

    Frozen Smoothie Pops

    • 4

Pour your fruit smoothie into an ice cube tray. Cover with plastic wrap tightly.

    • 5

Stick a toothpick into each cube. Place in the freezer for a couple of hours until frozen.

    • 6

Twist the tray to break the cubes loose, and serve the frozen smoothie pops.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are diabetic, use artificial sweetener or eliminate the sugar altogether.

  • Refrigerate any unused smoothie for no more than two days.

  • Top your smoothie with granola or cereal to add some crunch.
