How to Make Orange Creamsicle Shots

Have the shaker lid on tightly --- orange juice and cream spills are messy and sticky.

Many adult beverages like to sneak into our childhoods for inspiration. Orange Creamsicle shots take their cue from both the Popsicle with the same name and the orange-vanilla milkshakes found at malls and burger joints. Made with a whisper of vodka, these shots are a good substitution for when the promise of fire from whiskey or tequila doesn't bode well with your evening plans --- or the plans of the morning after. A combination of basic ingredients from the bar and kitchen, you can easily concoct your own Orange Creamsicle shots, serving up a little nostalgia in a shot glass. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 1 cup ice, 1 oz. vodka, 1 oz. triple sec, 1/2 oz. orange juice and 1/2 oz. into the cocktail shaker.

    • 2

Place the lid on the shaker, and shake for about 10 seconds.

    • 3

Remove the lid, and strain the contents into the two shot glasses.

Tips & Warnings

  • Two shots will make one martini --- serve the drink up in a martini glass for a sipping drink.

  • Clean the shaker tin out thoroughly after preparing the drink --- the cream will completely coat the insides and affect the tastes of any later drinks.

  • Cream has a tendency to bubble up when it is shaken --- if it does, allow a minute or two for the bubbles to die down before straining.

  • Just because these shots taste like orange whips doesn't mean that they don't have alcohol in them --- always drink responsibly and never drive after drinking.
