Things You'll Need:
- Grocery list
- Coupons
-
Step 1
Make a list before going to the grocery store. This will prepare you to buy only the products that you need and will keep you from buying things that you don't need.
-
Step 2
Compare your local grocery stores. By shopping at your local grocery stores, you will soon learn which store offers the cheapest groceries.
-
Step 3
Clip coupons. Look in your local newspaper and on the Internet for coupons. Some stores even offer double value for your coupons. Some stores even offer coupons in their grocery aisles. Take advantage of these.
-
Step 4
Many stores offer value cards that allow you to save additional money off of your grocery bill. You simply fill out a form at the business desk usually at the front of the store. Then you get a value card to put in your wallet or on your keychain for future purchases.
-
Step 5
Buy the store name brands of products. Most stores offer "house" brands or "store" brands of products. These products are considerably cheaper than the "Brand Name" products. These brand name companies even make the same products and the grocery store puts their own label on the products. For example, Wal-Mart has the Great Value brand.
-
Step 6
Buy in bulk. Stores sometimes offer sales when you buy in bulk. For example you may get 10 cans of green beans for $5. The same goes for toilet paper, sodas, and other items.
-
Step 7
If you live in an area that has a warehouse grocery store, such as Sam's Club or Costco, you can buy a lot of items in bulk such as meats, toilet paste, sodas, and other items. Keep in mind that you may have to pay a membership fee in order to shop at these stores.
