Things You'll Need:
- Time
- Oven
- What ever size pan.
-
Step 1
When baking, the size of your pan, will greatly determine, how much time and at what temperature, you will need to use.
-
Step 2
This is also contingent on what you are baking. Banana Bread, for example, is a very thick mixture and uses a smaller pan, but requires a longer bake time with a lower temperature, so that it doesn't burn, but bakes thoroughly.
-
Step 3
Cakes, aren't quite as dense as a bread mixture, so the bake time reduces, but the temperature is fairly consistent. About 350 degrees. Of course, how much time reduction, depends on the pan size you use.
-
Step 4
The larger the pan, the less time you will need to bake it for. This is because the mixture is spread thinner, throughout the pan.
-
Step 5
The smaller the pan, the more time you will need to bake it for, because the mixture is confined to a smaller area.
-
Step 6
Cup cake pans are a bit different, because of the way the conduction of heat hit's each individual holding unit, cupcakes bake at a much faster rate than other types of pans. This is true, even for the most dense mixtures.
-
Step 7
For denser mixtures, I recommend dropping the heat of the oven by about 25 to 50 degrees, but increasing your bake time. For thinner mixtures, the bigger the pan the less time, the smaller the pan, use more time.
-
Step 8
What ever temperature is listed with the recipe, is what you should base your bake time off of.
