Step 1
Increase your water intake. Drinking more water clears your system and gives you a "clean" feeling. When you have a desire for a diet soda, make a conscious effort to choice water instead. It may seem bland at first but in as little as two weeks you will find that you prefer it.
-
Step 2
Plan ahead. It is the everyday routines we have had that make breaking the soda habit the hardest. If you have several restaurants that you like to eat at, plan what you will drink when you arrive. If they don't have many other choices besides soda, take something with you or plan to drink water. Don't fall into the "just this one time" thinking.
-
Step 3
Find alternatives. OceanSpray has several flavors of Diet Cranberry Juice and is made with Splenda which is a healthier sugar alternative than others on the market. It only has 5 calories a serving. Other choices might be to use the Crystal Light packs that you can mix in a bottle of water. It's easy to carry several flavors with you. The most important thing is to pick drink alternatives that do not have carbonation.
-
Step 4
It won't take long to realize how much better you feel having given up your diet soda. Diet sodas seem so benign, yet after just a couple of weeks off of them, you realize that you can breathe better and that you feel better. It's a habit definitely worth giving up.
