How to Make a Diet Coke and Mentos Eruption

When mixed together, Diet Coke and Mentos candy make a fabulous eruption. This is a good trick to do at a kid’s birthday party or as a school science experiment. Make sure you perform this trick outside, however. It will make a big mess.

Things You'll Need

• 2-liter bottle of Diet Coke
• Mentos candy, at least 4 pieces
• Test tube

Instructions

1. Open the Diet Coke bottle and set it somewhere on flat ground.

2. Put at least four Mentos in a tube that will allow you to drop all of them in the soda at once. Set up the tube on top of the Diet Coke bottle.

3. Release the Mentos into the Diet Coke and take a step back quickly. You will see the Diet Coke shoot up into the air.
