Step 1
Get a pack of mentos candy and a 2 liter bottle of diet coke. You can actually do this with other soda products but diet coke tends to react best with this experiment.

Step 2
Set up somewhere to stage your eruption. You want to make sure that you are somewhere outside where you do not mind getting soda everywhere. You do not want to try this experiment inside your home unless you just enjoy cleaning up soda.

Step 3
Open the diet coke bottle and set it somewhere on flat ground. Take at least 4 mentos and put them in a tube that will allow you to drop all of them in the diet coke bottle at once. You do not want to try to drop them in individually because you will not have enough time. Set up the tube on top of the diet coke bottle.

Step 4
Release the mentos into the diet coke and take a step back quickly. You will see the diet coke shoot up into the air. If you like this experiment then go out and get some more so that you can do it again. Set up multiple diet coke and mentos eruptions at once and see what kind of show you can put on for your friends.
