Floss between your teeth carefully and slowly. The pain might be caused by food that has become lodged between two of your teeth.

    • 3

Mix 1 tsp. of salt with a glass of warm water, then rinse and gargle with this solution. Spit out the salt water when you're finished.

Crush a piece of garlic and hold it against the affected tooth to ease the pain. Alternatively, you could use place a piece of onion in your mouth near the tooth.

    • 5

Try sucking ice to numb the pain in your tooth. If the ice only causes more pain, then avoid eating and drinking cold substances, like iced tea and smoothies. If it does help, you can suck on the ice several times each day to reduce the pain.

Keep your mouth closed as much as possible if the air is hurting your tooth pain. This is often the case with cavities in the teeth.

    • 7

Soak a cotton ball with oregano oil or clove oil and put it against the affected tooth. These oils are occasionally used to reduce tooth pain. If these oils don't seem effective, you can soak the cotton ball with vanilla or almond extract instead.
