Finding ways to promote website and blog traffic is a continual process and it seems that every other day I get an email about the latest greatest and fastest way to do it. Now I know that many make a business out of website promotion and it is great but it can get expensive so I want to mostly focus on the website and blog promotion practices that are free or inexpensive.

The first way of promoting a website and blog is one that I am potentially doing right now and that is article writing and submission. Article marketing is a fundamental practice of website and blog promotion but it does require some typing and grammar skills. If you have trouble in these departments, you could look into programs that submit articles for you but this I feel is impersonal and could possibly defeat your own purpose of personal website and blog promotion. I have found in my experience that practice makes perfect so the point is that doing the writing will cause you to learn to write better and spell check is a real confidence booster as well. The important part of this is that when you write the article, you mention your website and blog address within the article or in the space provided and this depends on the article submission website.

The second promoting method is Search Engine Optimization or SEO. This method is important because usually the search bar is the only thing between you and your critical audience. Therefore, knowing what they will most likely type into the search bar can help you choose which keywords and phrases you need to have in your website name and description. Knowing SEO is essential and I suggest reading into it more.

This will be the final step to this article on promoting your website and blog and it will have two parts. Part one is video submission. Over 50% of all information transfer online is done in video format and the search engines tend to favor video formats in their indexes so utilizing this media is important to promoting your website and blog. Now I know making videos of yourself is not in everybody's comfort zone but there are ways around this that are still effective and that is making slide shows about your website and blog and converting them into a video format. Where to submit them is up to you, Youtube and Yahoo video are two of many places that can host your videos. Now part two of this final step is to me, the most important part and it has to do with what I call O.P.P. or Online Personal Presence. In all your efforts to promote your website and blog be sure to be yourself and be sincere in establishing your likeness or niche. The most effective promotion is your trustworthiness and that can be hard in the online world but it can be done. Focus on making what you offer honest and service minded.
