Using a shedding blade or currycomb will definitely help. Those items will pull loose hairs free. When using these items, use with a light hand. These items do not need to be pressed firmly on the horse. A light stroke with gather a lot are hair, and will not hurt your horse.

Give your horse a bath. This will help loosen the hairs that are still trying to hang on, but will end up all over you later. When giving my horse a bath I have found that using a rubber horse grooming grove is very helpful. Using the glove, rub your horse. This will help remove dirt and excess hair.

  4. Step 4

  • Don't do all of these tasks in the same day. Doing too much all at once could irritate your horses skin.
  • When using the items such as the currycomb and the shedding blade, remember to use only a light stroke. These items do not need be pressed firmly against your horse. Doing so could cause skin irritation, and or small cuts on your horses skin if used with too much force.
