Step 1
Make sure you gave it 100% while competing. You want to look back on your experience and say that you worked as hard as you could and did your very best. Prepare well so that you have no regrets.
-
Step 2
There are so many things you can gain from your pageant experience even if you don't win the title. You will use the skills you have gained for the rest of your life. Learning to speak well in public, how to interview well, and developing your talents and self-confidence. Use these skills to open doors in other areas of your life.
-
Step 3
Make friends with the other contestants. You probably have a lot in common with the other girls and can develop lifelong friendships from this experience. Besides, it's much easier to "lose" to a friend! If you win Miss Congeniality, you are a winner!
-
Step 4
If the title goes to another contestant, keep your disappointment and emotions in check. The only one with tears should be the queen. You might be crying on the inside, but show a smile on the outside. Learning good sportsmanship is a valuable lesson for other disappointments that might come your way.
-
Step 5
Never make remarks that show your disappointment. The only place you should share your disappointment is at home and behind closed doors. One small remark can follow you for a long time. It can also destroy a friendship.
-
Step 6
Be sincere in congratulating the winner. Be supportive of her. Sometimes it's as hard to win as it is to lose because of petty comments and jealousy. Send a note complimenting the winner. Who knows, she might be able to give you some pointers if you want to compete again.
-
Step 7
Don't get caught up in blaming others for what happened to you. Yes, there are pageants where politics and favoritism is shown, but if you think this pageant has that reputation, don't compete. Playing the blame game will only injure your reputation and burn bridges for future pageants.
