Visit your housing agency and fill out a section 8 housing application. You can find a housing agency nearest you by going to the HUD website where they list housing agencies in your city.

Find out from the housing agency what the exact qualifications are in order for you to rent subsidized apartments. Each county has a defined income level that need to meet to rent subsidized apartments. Physical and mental disabilities will also allow you to rent subsidized apartments.

Fill out the section 8 housing application with your personal information. You’ll need to provide to HUD your tax return information to prove your income.

Ask the housing agency to give a list of places that have rent subsidized apartments. Contact each of these rent subsidized apartments and find out which one suits you best.
