Make A Healthy Grilled Mushroom And Tomato Sandwich

You can have a healthy grilled sandwich without it being filled with cheese and covered in butter. This is both a fulfilling sandwich but it is also filled with flavor. Healthy food does not have top be bland and without texture.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 slices dense whole wheat bread
  • 1 tomato
  • 1/3 -1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 slices onion, white
  • olive oil
  • 1 TBL mayo
  • 2 pats butter
  • small skillet
  1. Step 1

    Add the olive oil to the skillet and heat over medium heat. Add in the onions and mushroom. Saute until onions start to look transparent. Remove from heat.

  2. Step 2

    Wash and slice the tomato. Spread the mayo onto both slices of bread. Place two or three slices of the tomato onto the bread. Spoon the sauted mushrooms and onion onto the tomato. Close the sandwich. Onto the outside of the top slice of bread spread one of the pats of butter. Place the sandwich butter side down into the small skillet. Place back over medium heat and cook until just browning. While the sandwich is cooking spread the second pat of butter onto the other slice of bread.

  3. Step 3

    Flip the sandwich and lightly brown the other half. Remove from heat and eat immediately.
