Things You'll Need:
- a good quality lotion
- skin
- your hands
-
Step 1
When applying lotion one common mistake that people make is rubbing it on dry skin. It may seem like the best solution but in actuality lotion is meant to lock in moisture, so in this case you will need to have damp skin.
-
Step 2
The best time to apply lotion is right after you get out of a shower or bath because this is when your skin retains the most moisture. Instead of running the towel over you skin, press it lightly into your skin leaving a little bit of water.
-
Step 3
Now you can apply your lotion. Place a generous amount in your hands, rub them together and gently apply over every surface of your skin. Make sure to rub the lotion in until it is evenly distributed and you can not feel much of it's moisture anymore (by this time, the moisture should be absorbed into your pores instead of on your hands). You may repeat as necessary.
