Things You'll Need:
- Envelopes
- Scissors
- Paper
- Card stock
-
Step 1
Look around your home or office for different size envelopes. These will be what you use for patterns to make your patterns. Envelopes are usually made from a light weight paper and tracing them on to a heavier weight of paper will make your patterns last longer and easier to use.
-
Step 2
Envelopes are lightly glued together. Take them apart by gently pulling them apart where they are glued together.
Once you have the envelope apart, rub your hands over it to flatten it out. You will see crease lines where the envelope was folded.
Lay the envelope down on the paper that you are making the pattern from and trace. Next, take a pair of scissors and cut out the new pattern then lay the envelope down on the piece that you have just cut making sure all the sides are even and fold following the crease lines in the original envelope. -
Step 3
Once again, the purpose of this is to have a heavier pattern.
When you get ready to make your envelopes, you can lay down several sheets of paper underneath your pattern and cut all of them at once.
