1
When using toenail clippers, be careful to avoid cutting into the skin underneath or surrounding the nails. Between uses, clean your toenail clippers with alcohol, and always avoid using clippers that someone else has used.

2
Whenever you wash your feet or get them wet, be sure to dry them off quickly. You should also be sure that your feet stay dry when wearing shoes. If your feet sweat easily, you should make sure you have shoes that breathe properly, and if you wear socks, try to find socks made specifically to keep your feet dry and allow them to breathe. Most importantly, never wear shoes that are still wet or damp.

If you use shared or public showers, such as at gyms or in a dorm, always wear flip flops to protect your feet from walking over the shared floors. Failure to do so is an easy way to pick up a foot fungus.
-
4
Avoid using shared towels, because germs can easily pass through a towel.

5
Be cautious when you go to nail salons to have pedicures. Many nail salons don't clean their instruments properly. This is one of the easiest ways to end up with somebody else's nail fungus.
