Step 1
Find a place where you can work that you don't have to worry about spilling any polish, I suggest avoiding areas with rugs.
-
Step 2
Spread out news paper over the area you plan to work on. Be sure to overlap a few sheets of paper so that the polish can't easily drip off the sides.
-
Step 3
If your shoes have laces, remove them.
-
Step 4
Use a soft cloth to wipe the leather off gently. Be sure there is nothing stuck on to the leather, and also be sure that it's completely dry.
-
Step 5
Wrap a clean cloth around your finger, or put on a cloth glove, then slip your other hand into the shoe to hold it in place.
-
Step 6
Dip the cloth into the polish lightly, then starting from the heel moving towards the front, spread the polish over the shoe lightly in a circular motion
-
Step 7
As you run low on polish, dip your finger in to get some more. Always use small amounts, since extra polish won't be absorbed into the shoes and will just end up going to waste.
-
Step 8
Continue this with the rest of the shoes, then allow them to dry for about 15 minutes.
-
Step 9
Once they have dried, take another clean cloth, and gently rub it with your fingertip back and forth across the polished shoes. This will help them shine.
