How to Tie a Bow Tie Easily

Most people can tie a bow tie easily, but some people struggle to tie a bow tie. Nearly every man, or boy, is forced at some point in their life to wear a bow tie. Below is a simple guide on how to tie a proper bow tie.

Instructions

1. Before getting started, pop up your collar and then place the bow tie around your neck loosely.

2. I highly recommend that you stand in front of a full size mirror, or a mirror that is level with your neck area (such as a bathroom vanity mirror). This will help you watch what you're doing at all angles, preventing small errors.

3. Adjust the length of the bow tie (some bow ties require this step while others do not). Do this by placing the first hook number above the hook of your neck size.

4. Place the tie around your neck with the seams inside, with the widening side hanging down from the collar button near your collarbone. Hold the spot just above the widening point.

5. Cross the larger end over the spot, then pass it around and up through the top.
