How to Make a Nurse's Hat From Paper

Children love to play dress up, so what better way to play dress up than with hats. You can make a nurse’s hat for your child with a simple piece of paper. It can also be an inexpensive part of a Halloween costume.

Things You'll Need

• White 8 ½-inch-by-11-inch piece of paper
• Red marker
• Paper hole puncher
• Yarn
• Bobby pins

Instructions

1. Lay the paper flat on the table. Fold in half horizontally, with the fold toward the bottom.

2. Fold down the top third of the top half of the paper.

3. Turn the paper over. Fold in the top two corners like dog ears.

4. Fold in the two sides about 2 inches. Let them come back out again. These are the sides of your nurse’s hat.

5. Turn hat over. You now have the basic outline of the hat, but now you need some accents.

6. Color in a red cross in the center top portion of the hat. Also, color red accents along the top of the fold and the two top corners.

7. Add the accents by cutting out red construction paper and attaching them with glue, if desired.

8. Take your hole punch and make two holes on the side to add the tie. Tie the yarn onto each side. Secure hat with bobby pins.
