You can earn a pretty good living as a house sitter. Of course your business will start out slow, as people aren't going to trust a stranger to watch over their home while on vacation. Begin with doing this for a couple friends or family members when they travel out of town. You'll have references then and those people can recommend your service to others.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
    contented dog and cat

Once you have house-sat a couple of times and have good references, post your service in local newspapers, on craigslist, bulletin boards in grocery stores, etc. A veterinary clinic is another good place for advertising; people with pets might like someone to not only watch over their house, but also care for their cat or dog.

  2. Step 2
    watering the plants

Make yourself more valuable by offering to take care of other duties including watering plants, light house cleaning and bringing in the mail.

  3. Step 3

This is a win-win situation for all. The ones leaving for vacation won't have to leave their dog or cat in a shelter, have the post office hold the mail or hire someone to come in to water the plants and feed the fish. One person... you... can do it all! This is a job that in time, you will be in great demand and earning a nice wage!
