Promote a Construction Company
Promote a Construction Company

You’ve started a construction company. You have your business name, any required licensing, and all of your tax information in order. Now it is time to get your name out there. Here are some promotional steps that are somewhat unique to construction companies

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Become accredited with the appropriate organizations. Homeowners look for this when searching for a reliable, reputable company. The Better Business Bureau and the Home Builders Association are a good place to start. Make sure to include these logos in your advertising.

  2. Step 2

Do your research. Talk to as many local homeowners as you can. Find out where they get information when choosing contractors. Many areas have coupon magazines that are only delivered to homeowners. You may also find that your target market often refers to the local newspaper or phone book for information. Capitalize on these outlets

  3. Step 3

Be your own billboard. Utilize your vehicle to advertise your business with magnets. Although maybe a little pricey initially, you will never have to pay for this promotion again (at least not for a while). Make sure your magnet is large enough to be seen and include all important information (i.e. company name, what you do, and PHONE NUMBER).

  4. Step 4

Advertise on location. A form of advertising unique to construction companies (and Realtors) is the signs you see in front yards of homes saying things like “XYZ Roofing.” Many construction companies have spurts of work in each neighborhood due to these. Follow similar guidelines as with vehicle magnets.

Tips & Warnings
  • Utilize common methods along with these steps (i.e. business cards, fliers, etc.)
  • It's always good to have a simple business number.
  • Make sure promotional pieces are not cluttered. Keep them clear and concise.
