Being car jacked can be one the scariest things you can possibly ever face. But there are things to do that can minimize the chances of being in that position.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Always have a full tank of gas. While you might not be able to prevent every car problem, running out of gas is one you certainly can.

  2. Step 2

Make sure you always lock your doors the second you enter your vehicle.

  3. Step 3

If you know you will not be leaving wherever you are until night time, then make sure you park under a traffic light.

  4. Step 4

When you come out to your car have your car key ready and in hand. Don't be caught scrambling to find your keys.

  5. Step 5

Always have a cell phone in the car on and charged up. Just buy a disposable cell phone from Walmart. You do not even need to keep minutes on the phone it will still allow you to dial 911. These only cost about 20 bucks.

  6. Step 6

Do not get out of the car even if you get bumped by another car. Simply pull over and immediately dial 911. Just seeing that you have a cell phone will discourage a lot of would-be car thieves.

  7. Step 7

Use common sense when planning your routes. Do not go through areas of extreme poverty if at all possible.
