Scarves are used in so many ways and have long been used as hair accessories. This accessory has been around for quite some time and has not lost it's appeal. Think of old movies where women riding in convertible cars always wore scarves to keep their hair in place. Scarves are also great for keeping hair pulled back from the face or as a quick way to manage otherwise unruly hair. There are many ways to use a scarf in the hair. Below are a few ideas.

1. Ponytail cover. This is the easiest way to utilize a scarf as a hair accessory. It is also the simplest. First pull hair back into a ponytail and secure it with a rubber band. Next, roll the scarf length wise and tie a very loose knot. Slide ponytail through the hole of the knot and pull knot of scarf over the rubber band. Tighten the scarf and you are ready to go.

2. Use as a headband. This is a great way to use a scarf on a bad hair day. Take the scarf and fold it once so that the scarf is now in the shape of a triangle. Now roll the scarf in 1 inch segments. Once the scarf is rolled, put it over your head like a headband and tie it at the nape of the neck.

3. Use as a head cover. This is the way women wear scarves while riding in convertibles. This is a great way to deal with unruly hair, or protecting the hair from wind or rain. Fold the scarf over once so that it is in the shape of a triangle. Put the scarf over you head with the long part of the triangle at the start of the hairline. The point part of the triangle will fall over the back of the head. Tie the corners of the scarf at the nape of the neck.
