Everyone wants to avoid foreclosure, but during these difficult economic times, more and more people are struggling to pay their bills, including their mortgage bills. Did you know that the federal government offers foreclosure resources for U.S. citizens who are hoping to avoid foreclosure? If you are interested in learning about foreclosure resources that have been officially sanctioned by the United States government to help people avoid foreclosure, please read this article.

  1. Step 1

    The first step to finding foreclosure resources that can help you avoid foreclosure is to visit the main website of the U.S. federal government: USA.gov. From there, click on the link that reads “Family, Home and Community.” When you get to the "Family, Home and Community" webpage, click on the link that reads “Homes and Housing.” Once you are on the “Homes and Housing” web page, click on the link that reads “Foreclosure Resources For Consumers.”

  2. Step 2

    You will now be on the “Consumer Information” web page of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. On this web page, you will see a link called “Resources for Consumers.” If you currently have a mortgage, but you are having difficulty making payments on your mortgage due to job loss or other financial difficulties, and if you are hoping to avoid foreclosure, you will want to click on this "Resources for Consumers" link to learn more about specific foreclosure resources.

  3. Step 3

    You will now be on a foreclosure resources web page called “Resources for Consumers.” You will probably want to read through all of the web pages and documents linked to this page. For instance, there is one link entitled “Guide To Avoiding Foreclosure.” When you click on this link, you will find out how to get in touch with a “Foreclosure Avoidance Counselor,” and you will also see links to various state and local resources that were specifically created to help U.S. citizens just like you avoid foreclosure.

  • There is also a link on this particular web page to an organization called “Hope Now.” You will definitely want to click on this link. The counselors at Hope Now are trained to provide credit counseling and debt management advice. They also function as foreclosure avoidance counselors. To that end, they receive special training in how to help people learn how to manage their overall debt as an effective way to avoid foreclosure. Please do not hesitate to call Hope Now if you are struggling to pay your mortgage and if you want to do everything in your power to avoid foreclosure.
