Things You'll Need:
- Sunny day
- Garden hose
-
Step 1
Grab a arden hose. It will help a great deal if you have a nozzle on the end that you can squeeze to control the amount of water that spews.
-
Step 2
Be sure it is a sunny day out. Keep the sun to your back.
-
Step 3
With the sun behind you, your head will create a shadow. Technically, rainbows appear around 42 degrees from the shadow of your head. This is where you'll want to spray a fine mist of water from the hose
-
Step 4
I won't get technical on finding 42 degrees here..... simply find the shadow of your head and spray a mist of water about in 8-10 inch radius or so around the shadow. If you don't know where 42 degrees is, you'll find it in a second by accident. You'll know it because you'll see the rainbow ! Be sure the sun is to your back
-
Step 5
The mist doesn't necessarily have to 'reach' the shadow, you just have to ensure you have the right angle.
-
Step 6
Once you see the rainbow in the mist, you'll notice you can't see the whole arc or 'bow' of the rainbow. You'll just see a section of the rainbow. To see more, simply keep spraying and move the mist along the rainbow, it will arc right before your eyes!
