Ironing has come a long way
Ironing has come a long way

The hardest part of ironing is pushing yourself to do it, but are you ironing your clothes correctly? Here I will tell you the proper way to iron your clothing.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

For pants: Start with your pants inside out. Iron around the circumference of the top of the waistband. Iron the pockets next. Front and back. Then iron the fly, seams and the hems. Turn the pants right side out and iron the top. Straighten out each leg and carefully iron out each leg starting from the top working down. Iron the cuffs last.

  2. Step 2

For shirts: Have the back of the shirt facing you. Iron the collar first, then turn the shirt over and iron the front of the collar. Flip the shirt back over and iron the backs of the sleeves, starting at the top, moving down. Then flip it again and do the fronts in the same manner. Iron the back of the shirt, starting on one side and working slowly to the other. Do the same with the front of the shirt.

  3. Step 3

If using an iron with a steam option never use tap water. Use distilled water or rain water to avoid a mineral build up on your clothing.
