Only use gentle shampoo and wash your hair no more than twice per week. If you feel you must clean your hair regularly, just use plain water other than those two times with shampoo.
Shampoo strips natural moisture and oils from your hair, making it more dry and breakable. Also, shampoo fortified with vitamins and other nutrients don't work well since they are washed away almost immediately. You can take vitamins internally to keep your hair strong and fix from inside out.

Purchase leave-in deep conditioner products or make your own for less money. Hot oil treatments start with dampened hair, softening the cuticle, and sealing the the hair with a coating of oil to prevent moisture lost. The oil is actually warm, never hot.
Deep conditioning items for heat damaged hair include avocado, egg, milk, mayonnaise, vegetable oil (any kind) and coconut oil. Here's how you do it:
(1)Rinse your hair with warm water.
(2)Work through your hair by applying the cooking oil/coconut oil from the palm of your hand. (Optional: blend one or more of the aforementioned items, i.e. mayonnaise, with the cooking oil/coconut oil and work into a paste)
(3)Use a towel or plastic hair bag and wrap it around your head. Have it wrap around as long as you can.
(4)Cover your pillow with a towel and sleep on it overnight. Use a moisturizing or baby shampoo to wash out the greasiness the next day.Repeat the process as often as you want to fix your damaged hair.
