Power Point projects are a standard for business and school presentations across the world. A professional looking Power Point project will enhance your performance, but a sloppy presentation will hinder and distract your audience from the goal of your presentation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microsoft Power Point
  1. Step 1

Plan out your presentation. Remember that Power Point is only a visual aid for your total presentation and the main focus of your audience should be YOU! Be comfortable with yourself and know your material well.

  2. Step 2

Keeping in mind that Power Point is only an aid, plan out your slides. Use bulleted notes to highlight the main points of your presentation. If you find yourself writing out word for word what you plan on saying, spare your audience the trouble of reading it. Cut it down to main points, as if you were outlining notes.

  3. Step 3

Add multimedia content such as pictures and graphs to your presentation, but only if they amplify the goals of your presentation. Do not add something merely because it "looks cool", for this will distract your audience and detract from your goals.

  4. Step 4

Finally, decide on a simple template and color scheme for your presentation. Simple white and blue templates are always classy. If your presentation looks like your Myspace page, something is wrong.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't read from your PowerPoint, have prepared notes and be calm, cool, and collected.
  • Always site your sources. Don't plagiarize!
  • Remember YOU should be the focus of your audience's attention, not the Power Point.
  • Do not ever, ever use laser or typewriting sounds. They are the epitome of an annoying presentation. As a rule of thumb, do not add any animations that do not serve some function in your presentation.
