A crown roast pork is generally quite a large pork piece that has pork chops still attached to one another. The chops depict a crown, hence the name. Let me guide you through the steps helping you to cook a moist crown roast pork.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 to 7 pound Crown Pork roast
  • Roasting pan
  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper
  • Reynolds wrap tin foil for a cover
  1. Step 1

The position in your roasting pan is vital for the pork meat to stay moist and tender. Place the 5 to 7 pound crown pork roast with the sharp bone points in an upward position. The pork, after cooking, will reduce in size making those bones more prominent, which is a delightful sight. You also keep the meat part more moist in this position.

  2. Step 2

Put on your black pepper and sea salt to taste making sure the fat has some of each of those on it too. The fat on this roast adds flavor and keep the pork moist too so don't trim the fat from this piece of pork.

  3. Step 3

Create a cover with the Reynolds wrap tin foil to completely go over the entire crown pork roast. You might have to use more than one sheet, folding and securing the two edges to accomplish this globe like cover.

Place in conventional oven at 350 degrees on center rack so the top of the cover does not touch electrical parts of the broiler if an electric oven is being used. Allow 25 to 30 minutes per pound for cooking since the bones make that time necessary. Pork Crown Roast will be white like in color when fully cooked.

  5. Step 5
Potatoes can be placed inside the roasting pan under the tin foil globe.

You can add peeled sweet or white potatoes the last 40 minutes of cooking time along with carrots for a handy one dish meal. Place these potatoes and vegetables inside the foil covering, so the juices from the pork crown roast keep them moist and cook more quickly too. Check these items with a fork to see if they are done. Cutting into the center chop will tell you if your crown pork roast is cooked all the way through. Use a sharp knife to gently slice a peep hole, so the beauty of this crown roast is not altered.
