Texas offers specialty license plates so you can support your hobby or an organization using your car. They also offer personalized license plates so you can make the plate say what you want. See the steps below for ordering specialty or personalized license plates in Texas.

Instructions

1. Go to www.TexasOnline.com.
   
   Click "Order Specialty License Plates". You will be directed to a new page.
   
   Click another button that says "Order Specialty License Plates".

2. If you would like a specialty plate, select the type of license plate you would like on the left side of the screen. There are many options including schools, military, and sports teams.
   
   Some specialty plates are no additional cost. Others cost an additional $30 or $40 on top of the usual license plate fee. More than 70% of the specialty fee goes to organizational activities, programs, or services.
   
   Some plates, such as military and government plates, have requirements that must be met before purchasing.

3. If you would like a personalized plate, look towards the top of the center section of the page for a title saying "Check Personalized Plate Availability". You can use the box to type in what you would like to have on your plate to see if it is available.
   
   Personalized plates cost an additional $40. Depending on the plate design selected, cars and trucks may only allow 6 characters while motorcycles may only allow 4.
   
   If you get a specialty plate and personalization, it could cost an additional $70 on top of the standard fees.
