Find your Dog.
Find your Dog.

A lost dog can be a traumatic event for a family. The whole ordeal only becomes more frustrating as the search grows longer. Here are a few hints to help you find a lost dog.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step is to thoroughly search your property for the lost dog. Over half the times have tried to find a lost dog I have found it on the property. Check everywhere. Look under porches, behind shrubs, everywhere.

  2. Step 2

Once you are sure the dog isn't on your property the key is to utilize as much manpower as possible. If you have neighbors or relatives that are familiar with the lost dog see if they will help you find them.

  3. Step 3

Take the people that the lost dog is most familiar with and have them walk around the neighborhood talking to neighbors. Leave your cell phone number with them so they can call you if they find a lost dog.

  4. Step 4

Talk out loud as you walk. Dogs have excellent hearing and may come to the sound of your voice. Also carrying a squeak toy or box of the dogs favorite snack may attract it.

  5. Step 5

Have people the dog isn't as familiar with canvas the neighborhood in cars. Be sure to have them check near dumpsters and other strong smelling areas.

  6. Step 6

If you can't find a lost dog within a day or so it is time to hang up fliers. Put as much description on the fliers as possible, or preferably a picture.

  7. Step 7

Be sure to check with animal shelters and dog catchers to see if they found your last dog. Also check the "Found" section in newspapers.
