Tension headaches are more common than migraines and a person might feel like they have tightness around the head and can be brought on by multiple reasons. There are home remedies for migraines and tension headaches that can assist in relieving your headache symptoms.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you have had a rough day and have a tension or stress headache there are ways for relief naturally. One way is through a compress.

  2. Step 2

Pour some lavender water in a bowl. Soak two wash rages and put one on your forehead and the other around the back of your neck at your hairline. Relax in a quiet dark room for about 15 minutes and it will ease the tension.

  3. Step 3

If you are having a Migraine drinking a tea made with 2 cups of water and 25 drops of Vervain or Lady's tincture (a solution prepared by steeping plant materials in alcohol)and 1 1/2 teaspoons of dried mint leaves will calm your headache while drinking in a quiet low lit room. To make it boil the water in a stainless steel saucepan or tea kettle.

  4. Step 4

You can also relieve a tension headache or migraine by making a massage oil for a headache. Take 10 drops of any massage oil and add 3 drops of peppermint, 2 drops of lavender and a drop of lemon oil. Dip your fingers in it and massage around the temples, along your hairline and at the top of your nape.
