Things You'll Need:
- a Gmail account
-
Step 1
Establish a Gmail account:
If you do not already have one, go to Google's Gmail site and follow the instructions to set up your free Gmail account. -
Step 2
Log into Gmail:
Log into your account and click on 'settings' at the top right corner of your screen. Next, click on the 'labs' tab. Scroll down until you find the 'forgotten attachment detector' and the 'undo send' options. Choose to 'enable' these Gmail options and then select 'save changes.' -
Step 3
Rethink your email:
If you send an email that Gmail detects should have an attachment - yet you've forgotten to do so - Gmail will pop up a window asking if you intend to send the message without an attached file. This Gmail feature allows the opportunity to send the email as is or attach a file. -
Step 4
Edit your email:
If you send a message with Gmail that you need to change, simply click the 'undo' option at the top of your inbox. If you are within the grace period, the email will halt and an editable draft will appear. Make your changes and resend your email.

on 5/30/2009 Excellent article. I'm waiting on the blocking feature (that's why I also had to get a gmx mailbox for the blocking).
