How to make Salmon Patties Gluten Free

Gluten free salmon patties (fish cakes) are a great way to use your leftovers get your omega 3 fatty acids. I always cook extra fresh salmon as the kids love these for lunch. Salmon patties can be served warm or can be packed in a lunch box as a cold sandwich. Yum!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Leftover or canned salmon
  • 1 egg
  • 1 TBLS gluten free Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. dill
  • fork

  • griddle or pan
  • Canola cooking spray
  1. Step 1

    Start with your leftover salmon. Canned salmon can be used, as well as any leftover de-boned fish.

  2. Step 2

    Scrape the pulp off the lemon skins and add to the fish. Discard the skins.

    Chop the fish fillets into small bits with a fork.

    Next, add dill, egg, and Worcestershire sauce. (Lea and Perrins brand is verified gluten free on date of publishing).

    Scrape the fish to one side of the bowl. Add an egg. This will help the gluten free salmon patties stick together.

    Add Dill to taste - I used 1 tsp.

    Add Worcestershire sauce. I added approximately 1 TBLS.

    Wisk the egg, sauce, and dill together on one side of the mixing bowl.

    Mix with the salmon.

    Spray your pan with cooking spray. Put on the stove on medium high heat.

    Scoop up a plum size ball and flatten into a patty. Continue until all the salmon mix is used. If patties are bigger, they tend to break apart.

    Turn the heat to medium and cook each salmon patty about 5 minutes on each side. Use a fork to help with the turning.

    Cook until done, about another 5 minutes.

    Serve warm with your favorite sauce, or in a sandwich. Pictured sandwich is gluten free millet bread, canola mayo, lettuce, and often we add a slice of pickle. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Salmon patties can be stored in your fridge or frozen and re-heated in the microwave. They are delicious as a cold lunchbox sandwich!
  • Some people put cracker or bread crumbs in their patties - this is a way to stretch the recipe.
