I don't recommend this as a permanent way to reduce a fever. This is a quick fix to help reduce a fever when it's over 100 and you need some help so you can make yourself some chicken soup or make a phone call to friend to bring you some Tylenol. Reducing a fever can help you to help yourself to feel better.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • bucket
  • hot water
  • socks
  • cold water
  1. Step 1

Fill a bucket with hot water.

  2. Step 2

Keep a pair of cold, wet cotton socks and a dry woolen pair next to the bucket.

  3. Step 3

Put your feet in the bucket of hot water.

  4. Step 4

Take your feet out of the bucket of hot water and put on the cold, wet pair. Then slip the dry woolen pair over the cold wet ones.

  5. Step 5

This should bring your body temperature down a degree or two. This technique is called hydrotherapy.

  6. Step 6

This won't reduce your fever forever so be sure to take some more permanent step to reducing your fever and keeping it down.

on 4/30/2009 Sounds a bit shocking, but effective for a fever since our feet are a primary source of determining whether we feel hot or cold.
