Step 1
Empty Calories! What makes them empty? They are often devoid of any nutritional benefit. For example, sodas are the hidden enemy of any weight loss plan. An 8oz can of soda, can be as high as 140 calories. Many fast food restaurants serve drinks in three sizes, big (16oz), bigger (24oz), and unbelievably huge (32-48oz). The average calories of a big soda is between 300 to 400. So, save yourself! Why not order water or a diet soda instead, and save yourself the drama of having empty calories.
-
Step 2
More calorie crushing can be accomplished by making a small adjustment to that burger as well. Yes, you can still order the burger, but with a small twist. Removed the mayo from the bun and you have cut between 100-170 calories in one stroke. Remove the cheese and you have just saved yourself another 100 calories. That's a total of 200-270 calories save on one burger.
-
Step 3
Try downsizing instead of upsizing you meal. When you downsize those large fries (500cals) to smaller fries of 230 calories you will have saved yourself another 270 calories in one meal. Not a bad job for someone who's not on a diet.
-
Step 4
Last steps to tricking your mind is to become more conscious of what you are eating. So, if you notice you are eating more than 2 cookies from the bag, stop yourself. Look at the bag and estimate the calorie count of those two cookies you have just eaten. How many calories did you consume? Well about 140-200 per (2) cookies. Now, let's make a different choice. Popcorn with light butter satisfies your cravings for a snack and fills you up, all with fewer calories than the two cookies you eat. There are other small changes that can make big differences, like buying products you love in their low fat form. Try buying low fat ice cream instead of the other higher fat versions.
-
Step 5
With the few minor changes listed above, you have saved yourself over 900 calories in just one day. It takes a reduction of 3500 calories to lose one pound. So, at the rate of 900 per day for 7 days, you have reduced your weekly calories count as much as 6300 calories with barely any effort on your part.
