How to Recycle Your Old Gold Jewelry
Whether you are looking for some extra cash or you just want to clear out your old jewelry box, there are many options for recycling your jewelry and giving them a new life.

1
DONATE - Old jewelry that is in decent shape can be donated to one of your favorite charities. The Salvation Army, The Goodwill and other thrift stores will gladly take your old jewelry and give you a donation receipt so that you can right it off on your taxes. Note the original price that you paid for the jewelry on your receipt. Your tax account or attorney will know what percentage of the original price you are allowed to write off.

2
PAWN IT - Pawn shops will take your old gold jewelry and give you cash. A good rule of thumb is that they give you 10% of the original value. If you paid $1,000 for a diamond gold ring, the pawn shop would give you about $100 for it.

3
REFASHION IT - Many jewelry stores will take your old gold jewelry and melt it down and reform it into a new piece of jewelry for you. Ask for details and costs at your local jewelry store.
-
4
GOLD BUYERS - You can mail it in or take it to a gold buyer. They will pay you only for the weight of the gold. Any ornate designs or stones attached will not bring you any added value. If you choose this option, you can remove your stones first.
-
5
GIVE IT TO A FRIEND - You may have a friend or some neighborhood kids that would love to have your old gold jewelry.
-
6
SELL IT - You can try to sell it at a garage sale or online at a site such as ebay.
