How to Do Frosted Glass Etching
With a little practice, you can create beautiful frosted etchings on glass items throughout your home. I suggest starting with 2 or 3 inexpensive glass candle votives until you are satisfied with the results. Purchase stencils at a craft store or if you're feeling really creative, design your own.
Things You'll Need
- glass frosting spray
- glass candle votive
- stencils
- masking tape
- newspaper

1
You want to do the spraying in a well ventilated area. A face mask to protect against breathing in the vapors of the frosted glass spray is recommended. Also, be sure to lay down a lot of newspaper on your work area for protection of the table or counter you are working on.

On a clean, dry glass candle votive, tape your stencil down tightly. Then cover the rest of the votive with tape. Place the votive rim side down on the newspaper so none of the spray will get inside. Then just simply spray the stencil and allow to dry completely.

When it is totally dry, remove the tape and stencil. The spray has adhered to the glass, creating a frosted "rough" appearance.
