We all could trade stuff that we don't need to get rid of clutter. I will suggest ways to free yourself from these things while maybe acquiring some things you might want.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • items you don't need anymore but are in good shape
  • a willingness to try something new.
  1. Step 1

Put your stuff you don't need in three sections: 1. Stuff to throw away. 2. Stuff to give away. 3. Stuff to trade or sell.

  2. Step 2

Trash - If you haven't used it in a year or so and it has little value, put it in a pile and throw it away. Get together with friends and share a run to the local dump if you have one. Going to the dump can be a sobering experience. You'll probably acquire less stuff in the future after visiting one.

  3. Step 3

Give Away - Again use the "Have I used it in a year test?" Clothes that are in fair shape, books that are relevant, kitchen ware, clean safe toys, board games, tools. There are many people that would be thankful for some of these things. Don't forget you can write some these things off as charitable giveaways. Try the website freecycle for this option.

  4. Step 4

Trade or Sell - This category would be for the things you have that may still have some value. That figure will be different for everyone. You have some options here: have a garage sale, list items for sale in the paper, list items on a bartering website to trade with others. It can be fun to trade stuff with others.
