Selling your old unwanted items on Craigslist is a great way to turn trash into cash. In this article you will learn a few simple tips on how to safetly sell on craigslist.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create your listing and include a picture of the item, a brief description, your price, and your terms of dilivery.

  2. Step 2

When specifying the price, make sure you specify that your price is FIRM so no one is wasting each others time, too many game players and window shoppers on CL. Also note that you accept CASH ONLY and that buyer must bring EXACT CHANGE. This will help weed out the scammers and con artists.

  3. Step 3

Delivery, if at all possible have the person meet you in a public place like a grocery store parking lot. Use a grocery store becuase they have a lot of traffic coming and going. When poeple are all around, the buyer is less likely to make a scene or cause trouble.

  4. Step 4

If the item is too large to move and you need the buyer to come to your house, make sure you get a phone number where they can be reached. Have them email you there phone number and you will call them with directions. If they don't give a cell/home number to confirm who they are then don't give them your address.

  5. Step 5

For the no-shows, never hold an item for longer than a few hours, money talks and BS walks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid haggling over the price
  • Never sell alone, always have someone with you
  • Do not give out any personal information
  • Never accept a check (cash only)
