      BRAINSTORM
      Ask yourself the following questions:
What services will you be offering to customers?
What hours will your business be open?
What is your basic business information including business name, address, phone number and web address?
Jot down the answers on the pad of paper. After you have the basic information, think about what makes you different from and better than the other air-conditioning businesses in your area.
Will you be available to customers 24/7?
Do you have years of experience as a technician?
Is your staff larger or more experienced than others?
These are your competitive advantages. Make sure to feature them prominently in your brochure.

      ORGANIZE
Take a sheet of 8 ½ x 11-inch printer paper and fold it into thirds lengthwise as if you were going to fold it to put into a business-size envelope. Number each of the six panels.
Based on your brainstorming session, decide what information should be included on each panel of your brochure. Think about what customers need to know and when they need to know it.
Consider what customers will want to find out about your company before they will hire you. Use the front of the brochure to highlight your competitive advantages - the things that make you different and better than other companies in your area.

      TYPE
Most word-processing software has basic publishing features. Choose the three-panel brochure template. Type the information about your business into the section for each panel.
Choose graphics to add interest to the brochure. Use bold colors to get the attention of customers.

      PROOFREAD
Print several sample copies of your brochure. Ask an employee, business partner or friend to check the brochure for typos, misspellings and errors.
Also use the spelling and grammar features on your computer to check for mistakes.

      PRINT
Print out copies of your brochure from your printer or take the electronic file to a copy store or print shop.
Print more copies than you think you will need. It is easier to store extra copies for later use than to have to go back to the printer or copy shop every week.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask someone who knows nothing about your business to read the brochure. Then ask him the following questions: Do you have any questions or things you don't understand after reading the brochure? Does the brochure clearly state what the business does? Is the brochure easy to follow and understand? Are there any mistakes such as typos or misspellings in the brochure? Does the brochure give a good impression of the business? Ask friends, family or business associates to help you with the brainstorming session. Other people may think of ideas or services that you might have missed. Include the basic contact information for your business at the bottom of every panel of the brochure.

  • Do not use text from other websites for your brochure. Do not say anything unflattering about other companies in your brochure. Do not say that your firm is the "best" or better than other companies.
