This article explains the method of removing hard water from glass using cerium oxide. This requires little skill, but it does require patience and hard scrubbing. This is the safest method for removing hard water stains from glass as there are no toxic chemicals involved.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • water
  • sponge
  • cerium oxide
  1. Step 1

Dampen your sponge with a little water. You want enough water to make a paste out of the cerium oxide.

  2. Step 2

Put 1 Tbsp. of cerium oxide on the damp sponge, fold the sponge over and lightly squeeze to moisten the powder. It is important for all the powder to get wet because it will only work in paste form.

  3. Step 3

Take the (now) paste and start scrubbing the glass with the stains on it. Keep scrubbing until you notice the stain coming off. If the powder dries just dampen your sponge to remoisten and keep scrubbing. Keep things wet (but not dripping wet).

  4. Step 4

Allow to dry and then wipe clean with a clean dry cloth. Perform the steps over again if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not inhale powder or get into eyes.
